Valencia Basket forces a fourth game with a win in Athens (87-91)
G3 1/4 EuroLeague
Valencia Basket extended their playoff series against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens by winning the third game 87-91. They were always ahead and dominated for most of the game, but their scoring woes in the final five minutes gave the Greek team two chances to tie the game in the closing seconds, which they failed to capitalize on.
Quotes by Xavi Albert
“It was a great game. We played very well in the first half, sticking to our game plan and creating a lot of opportunities with transitions. The second half was a different kind of basketball, but we have to be ready to counter every situation. In the first two games, Coach Ataman called technical fouls that changed the course of the games, and we had to be prepared to respond to every situation, to not give the opposing team the opportunity to turn things around when they weren't playing their best basketball. Pedro reacted with that idea in mind. We finished the regular season second for a reason; this team has a great spirit, and we came here to fight for every game and to bring the series back to Valencia. We have to be ready to play fast, to play slow, to fight, for any situation.”
